Those who have known me throughout my life recognize the inclination—and the almost instinctive devotion—that coffee awakens within me.
In Canadian lands, I was always searching for a better cup, naively believing I understood its essence. But every certainty dissolved the moment I decided to journey into the vast lands of Latin America, unaware that such a decision would alter my destiny.

Among mountains that seemed woven by the gods and cultures that breathe tradition, it was the majestic Colombian Andes that captured my spirit. There I discovered not only a landscape, but a hidden world: one shaped by farmers who, through painstakingly artisanal processes, with patient hands and passionate, dedicated hearts, elevate coffee beyond craft—turning it into an act of creation. Their devotion, their almost ritual precision, and the passion they imprint into every bean revealed to me an entirely unfamiliar universe, one where tradition coexists with the uncompromising quality present in each harvest.

I then understood that the coffee I thought I knew had been merely a shadow. In Canada, where blends of origins aim for standardization, the unique voice of each lot fades—the unrepeatable story born from a specific land, a climate, a family, a legacy. In the Andes, however, each bean is a
singular epic, enriched by the imagination of those who dare to explore new paths: farmers who ferment with tropical fruits, who age coffee in barrels, who allow creativity to converse with tradition to unveil aromas never before conceived.

And among those mountains I discovered not only the soul of coffee: I also found the person who would become my life companion. My Colombian partner became my guide and witness in this awakening—a fundamental part of the journey that transformed my understanding of coffee and of life itself.


This is how Monteza was born.

Every cup we craft is an homage to that revelation. We work exclusively with farmers whose pursuit of singularity mirrors our own, forging bonds grounded in trust, respect, and a profound reverence for the land. Every choice is intentional; every bean comes from hands that understand that as much as of meticulous care.

From cherries picked at their perfect peak to processing methods that border on the alchemical—barrel aging, creative fermentations with tropical fruits—each step elevates the depth and character of the coffee, shaping a sensory experience that has rarely crossed Colombia’s borders.
